Lost Churches of the Borders

  • Bedrule Church Hawick, Scotland, TD9 8TE United Kingdom (map)

An illustrated talk by Kenneth McLean

The present tragic and upsetting closure of many respected places of worship and community spirituality by the Church of Scotland across the length and breath of Scotland, has also occurred in previous centuries.

In this fascinating talk, Kenneth takes the audience on a tour of the hamlets, villages and towns of the Borders.

In each place, he describes the location of the lost churches, most being illustrated by old and rare black and white photographs, which were often taken by the local Ministers themselves.

Surprisingly , in some cases, the Church building still stands, but because they have been 'repurposed', they are not immediately recognisable.

This is a free event, with any donations to BCF gladly accepted. Toilet facilities will be available at the nearby Bedrule Village Hall.
